Be careful what you wish for
My last post I was wishing for a snow day, so I could spend the day playing with my little guy. We got more than a day try 2 days, that was a bonus. The only problem was when the ice hit Thurs afternoon we also lost power. No biggie we have a woodstove,BBQ, candles and lots of batteries, cell phones-we can tough it out. We toughed it out for 4 days with no power. It really wasn't that bad, we have big windows so we had light in the daytime, at night we grabbed the radio and all snuggled in bed and listened to music. Sat, I made stew and we had homemade bread on the BBQ-the frozen bread dough had thawed. Finally the power came back on Sun afternoon long enough for me and little guy to have a bath-should have started dinner too... Power went out again shortly after. Today is Tues and when I left this morning we had no power... Anyways we learnt that we can survive without many things that we take for granted. Hubby didn't have a car charger so he couldn't charge his cell phone-I have one so we were okay. No TV and not knowing whats happening in the world is kinda tough, the radio let us know that the roads were okay but did little to mention what was happening as far as news goes. I am thankful for Playtex bottle liners-at least I didn't have to worry about sterilizing bottles. The temp has warmed up a bit and things are starting to thaw, not good for us. Many of our trees are already damaged and hanging on the ground. Our driveway is impassable as of today I am going to have to hike up and down, its a giant red dirt muck mess.... I hate to get my rubber boots dirty!
